Our Founder - Peggy King

Peggy's commitment and love of animals and making jewelry began when she was a small child. Peggy has always had a special place in her heart for animals.  When she was child, she would often bring home stray dogs home.  Fortunately her parents shared her love for animals and she often got to keep and nuture them back to health.  Some of Peggy's fondest childhood memories include playing and caring for animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens and a turkey.  

Over the past 30 years Peggy has been visiting the local animal shelters and has rescued many pets. Those she took home were all pets that were considered "not adoptable". She averages three pups at a time and she takes the cases that most people would not adopt due to various types of abuse both physical and mental. 

A year ago she decided to make a special collar charm for one of her rescue puppies to wear.  She thought it would "cheer him up"... and what do you know -- it did.  After endless compliments Peggy decided to combine her passion of helping and healing animals with her love of making jewelry thus Collar Candy was born. 

Peggy continues to be the lead designer on the Collar Candy product line.She also is an active ambassador for the animal rescue agencies that receive our generous donations. 

In her free time, Peggy has started writing a series of dog stories called "Oodles of Poodles" and enjoys spending time with her loving husband Jack, many grandchildren, and her three rescued Shih Tzu's.
